Continuation on a theme.... and Cauliflower as breadsticks?!

How about WAY, Garth!

That's right. Not only does the recipe I gave to you good folks yesterday make pizza crust, but my 6 year old just gave me two thumbs up for the bread sticks accompanying the pizza!

Again, the pizza is able to be held in the hand, as are the bread sticks.

What kind of pizza did I make tonight?

Better Than Papa Murphy's Cowboy Pizza

Prepared cauliflower pizza crust baked at 450 degrees and ready for toppings
pesto (or red sauce)
Mozzarella cheese
Pepperoni
chorizo
mushrooms, sliced
green pepper, chopped into chunks
red onion, chopped
topped with a bit more cheese

Follow the pizza recipe for the crust. Add the toppings in order. Place under a broiler until the cheese is melted.

The bread sticks recipe is easy! Prepare enough dough for pizza and get these bread sticks in the oven before the first pizza batch.

I can't believe they're cauliflower breadsticks!

A batch of Cauliflower pizza dough (mixed but not baked)
mozzarella cheese
garlic salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

In a greased 9X3 loaf pan, press about 1-1/2" deep cauliflower pizza dough. If any is left, use for pizza.

Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes, or until set. With a spatula loosen the dough around the edges and remove the square of dough to a greased cookie sheet.

With a pizza cutter, slice strips through the set dough. Separate slightly. Sprinkle with garlic salt and/or extra mozzarella cheese. Bake at 450 degrees until the top browns.

Once the oven is preheated to 450 degrees, it is easy to pop in a couple of pizza crusts as well.

Serve with marinara sauce (optional).

May I just say: your recipes rock!

Make sure you try it, though. It's really good!

And really, prepping cauliflower is no more difficult than prepping yeast dough for pizza.

I made a lasagna too! I'll be posting that later.

And thanks for your seriously nice comment!

Love the this pizza and must now try the bread sticks. I added some garlic and pepper flakes to my crust and it was really nice. I must admit I only looked at the ingredients list and mixed them all together so my spices were in the crust, opps---but it tasted GREAT!

Can't wait to try the other recipes. I just love cauliflower.

OH I also used fresh since they didn't have any frozen at Wal-Mart. I mince mine 1st then microwave it. I found it took about 3 cups raw to get the 2 cups cooked.

That sounds really delicious, Julie! I need to try the red pepper flakes, too!

I am so glad you like the bread sticks! I made pizza today, and the youngest wanted her bread sticks. I owe her now or I'm not going to hear the end of it!

I sure hope you find this question. My breadsticks turned out a bit on the soggy side. My husband had NO idea it was cauliflower, but said "hey these breadsticks need to be a bit more crispy". Did I do something wrong? Should I have left them to cook longer in the breadpan or when they were browning with cheese on them?

BTW - we tested out a few cheeses and the BEST cheese to OUR family was co-jack IN the breadsticks with Mrs. Dash Garlic Herb as the seasoning and mozz. on the TOP.

You really have to let these bake for a long time in order to suck the moisture out of them.

You can even try flipping them every 10 minutes or so in order to brown all sides evenly.

It's a longer-cooking recipe, to be sure!

Ps. I love your flavoring suggestion/change!

these were very tasty. i found them a bit moist too so just baked it longer. maybe its just me but i found the taste of cauliflower still there - must not have used enough herbs/garlic. i was thinking of trying this but adding a touch of grated parm cheese in the dough to help it stick together even more and cover the cauli taste a bit. keep the recipes comin' i love 'em

Cleo---WOW....your recipes look absolutely awesome...I thought I had crafted some really good recipes, but mine pale in comparison. I like using cauliflower, but have never thought of some of the things that you have done with it. My creations are mostly variations of smashed cauliflower.

I will be trying these. And thank you for posting the pics as well, everything looks absolutely delicious and I can't wait to try them.

Again, just wanted to send you a big thumbs up for your blog and all the good information out here.

I love your website (newbie here)!! I made your pizza last night... but must've done something wrong, because although very tasty, it didn't resemble anything like "dough" once I sliced it and served it up. More like pizza sauce and toppings over riced cauliflower. It fell apart. Tonight I tried the lasagna with garlic breadsticks (of course). Alas, same results. I followed the instructions to the letter. The lasagna came out like soupy goulash, and the breadsticks just crumbled into something similar to hashbrowns. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Everything sounds and looks so delish on your website, I want to be able to do this!

Oh, man! This stuff is the absolute best! After sticking to a strict 60 carbs per day diet for my husband (diagnosed with diabetes) for the last two months, this was such a treat. He was in Tastebud Heaven!! I loved it too. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for your kind feedback! I am REALLY glad you guys like this as much as I do. If I couldn't eat pizza I'd probably be licking pizza store windows.

These breadsticks are delicious! Who cares that it takes longer to cook? This gives me an idea for some recipes I have that use all cheese for the crust or the quiche. These dishes tend to be a bit heavy and rich. Next time I will reduce some of the cheese and add riced cauliflower.

I really enjoy reading your blog. Nice work! Thanks.
